This week my Momma was diagnosed with moderate Alzheimer's disease. This is scary to me and, of course, to the rest of the family.

A little background: I live 2,000 miles apart from my side of the family . . . My mom, sisters, brother, all their children and their children's children . . . my nieces and nephews. Momma just celebrated her 88th birthday on October 14, which is also the 11th anniversary of my Daddy's passing.

When I began this blog back in January, one of the first recipes I shared with you was Momma's Olive Dip. She doesn't remember ever making it!

Momma on Big Red 30 years ago!

I am fortunate my mom has lived such a rich, full and long life! She has seen many more birthdays than her grandparents, parents, and brother. I am grateful for her life, and friendship, especially after we moved from Michigan to Arizona over 31 years ago. She has been there for me and my family. Two-thousand miles have never separated us from her love, prayers, wisdom and encouragement. She has been my model and inspiration! Her "well lived life" has been an anchor and compass for me personally.

I can't imagine how difficult and scary it must be for her. Right now she is in denial and I can't talk to her about how she's feeling. Her driver's license has been taken away and she's blaming my oldest sister for tattling to the doctor.

 

As I'm gracefully growing older and wiser in so many areas of my life, I am more committed than ever to share my life with you. With personal stories, informative facts about health and nutrition, gardening, recipes, beekeeping, knitting, crocheting (I'm just learning how with the help of YouTube), photography, sewing, soap-making, DIY tutorials on making laundry soaps, cleaning products, personal care products (I'm in the learning/experimental stages right now), I hope to enrich your lives and the lives of your family.

I will be asking my sisters to share their favorite recipes and stories with me, so I can pass them on to you. Neither are computer literate, but I hope to bring you their best and also more recipes and stories about my Momma and Gram. This is my way of preserving their rich lives and blessing yours at the same time!
