Libby came to live with us when she was 6 months old. She was separated from her brother and her caretaker and needed a lot of babying when we first brought her home. I was afraid of her large, flesh crushing beak and she was afraid of me!
We've come a long way . . . She calls me Ma Ma and Gramma after a recent visit from the Grands, and when I walk past her covered cage at night she quietly calls, "I love!".
Libby started her special day off with mixed veggies and then a long leisurely shower. When she was done showering, she climbed out of the shower, by herself, and wattled through our bedroom and down the long hallway to her cage.
Today we celebrate her 16th Birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Liberty Alice . . . aka ~ Libby!!!
We celebrated with homemade pizza (the parrots each got a pizza bone with a little sauce and cheese on it) and homemade applesauce around for all the parrots.
And a not so welcomed party hat for the birthday girl!
That's our Party Animal!
Large parrots like Libby can live to a ripe old age of 80 years old! It is an adventure living with such a beautiful and intelligent creature. She knows when one of our kids are 1/2 mile down the road and you can't even see their vehicle. She'll start yelling "Hi, hi"! If there's a stray dog in the yard Livby sounds the alarm with a loud Macaw yell! When the phone rings she answers, "Hello", and then " jibber jibbers" and says "uh huh, uh huh . . . jibber jibber"! Libby certainly has found her way into hearts and home . . . Over at Julie's!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY. . . Baby Girl!
